U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta addressed the Governor’s 2018 Future Ready Iowa Summit on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, in Des Moines. Sec. Acosta spoke near the end of summit on "Working with Iowa to Confront Workforce Challenges."
In addition to the summit, Sec. Acosta visited the IowaWORKS Center in Des Moines, Central Campus in Des Moines, Waukee APEX, the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women in Mitchellville, and held a roundtable discussion with businesses regarding Registered Apprenticeship.
The goal of the Governor’s 2018 Future Ready Iowa Summit is to bring together leaders from business and industry, education and nonprofit, along with elected officials, students and others to amplify the public conversation about transforming education and the workforce. The Summit's agenda features a showcase of work-based learning exhibits, table talks, networking opportunities and breakout sessions.
